The Von Rio Tetra is a native to the coastal rivers of Brazil. This fish was introduced to the hobby in the 1920's and was incredibly hobbyists. It;s long been overlooked by it;s flashierup to the 1970's. Loss of habitat and the introduction of a few non native species to its native habitat threatened to wipe out the species and it was considered an endangered species. Through the efforts of aquarium hobbyists this fish has seen a resurgence in both its population and its popularity. It's a stunner.
