Native to the faster flowing rivers and streams of Central America, these fish prefer faster moving water, dense vegetation and a few open swimming spaces. Omnivores, they will readily accept flakes , pellets and frozen foods. Will also harmlessly graze on algae without damaging healthy plants. Apeaceful fish, although males will sometimes get a bit territorial, a good rule of thumb is to keep a ratio of 2 to 3 females per male. Gives birth to live young approximately every 28 days
