The Green Severum is a South American cichlid native to the lakes and tributaries of the Amazon Basin. As one of the more peaceful, larger cichlids, it can and will defend itself against more aggressive counterpart cichlids. Preferring slower moving water, it has a large varied diet consisting of pellets, blackworms, tubiflex worms and ocean plankton. Pellets, freeze dried or live foods, this fish is not a particular eater. Grows to be 8" in diameter it's not particularly suited for small aquariums. Thrives in a wide variety of aquatic environments. A good cichlid for the beginning hobbyist.
