The Electric Blue Jack Dempsey is a relatively new genetic variation of a long time favorite amongst hobbyists. This variation features an eye-catching metallic blue and black mottled pattern over the entire body. Color doesn't fade as the fish matures. The Jack Dempsey is native to Mexico and Guatemala. Tolerant of a fairly wide set of aquatic parameters, it prefers warmer, slightly acidic water conditions. A relatively pugnacious inhabitant, it can be territorial and aggressive towards other fish.  Growing to a length in excess of 8", it has an 8-to-10-year lifespan if well cared for.  Not a particular eater, a solid combination of pellets, and frozen foods can be offered.
