Another native to the Amazon River basin, these gentle giants can reach almost 12" in length requiring a relatively large aquarium. Peaceful, they prefer slower moving, softer and slightly acidic water parameters. Adults have a wide variety of vivid colorations that can vary in intensity during mating or due to stress or less than ideal water conditions. Will readily consume pellets, worms, crickets or.. in some instances, other tankmates that are small enough to fit in it's mouth.
