This South American Cichlid hails from the tributaries and back waters of the Amazon mainly in Venezuela. Growing to a length of about 8", they are primarily found in slow moving, stagnant water with few other species present. A very hardy fish, they are a very sociable cichlid forming small groups or pairs. They will eat any live foods including snails as well as any commercial flake or pelleted food.
