This African Peacock is one of the most widely distributed species of Lake Malawi in East Africa. There are several color morphs of this species depending on the geographical location of the fish. This variety is a solid metallic blue. This is a fish that inhabits the rocky shores of the lake and tends to spend most of it's time on or near the bottom of the lake. In the wild they feed mostly on crustaceans and other invertebrates but in the aquarium, they will readily take cichlid pellet, frozen food, flakes or even live foods. Black worms should be used sparingly if even at all. Reaching a length of about 6" females tend to be smaller.
