The Firemouth Cichlid with it's blazing display of bright orange under the throat is a dazzling South American Cichlid. A native to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. They have a preference for slow moving water, dense vegetation and sandy bottom. A hardy specimen, they can reach up to 6' in size. Typically, one of the more peaceful cichlids, things can get ugly if they feel threatened or are attempting to breed. Diet consists of pellets, flakes or any variety of live foods
